Success Story of Uncle Hosny

Uncle Hosny’s case reached the Thera Home team therahome Uncle Hosny’s case reached the Thera Home team after a complex medical journey. He was suffering from a liver tumor that led to advanced liver cirrhosis, accompanied by a large accumulation of ascitic fluid in the abdomen, which required repeated drainage procedures to relieve his symptoms.

Due to financial circumstances, he was unable to complete his treatment in the hospital and returned home while still in a critical health condition. Shortly afterward, his condition deteriorated, and he developed hepatic encephalopathy (hepatic coma) as a result of complications from liver cirrhosis, along with a bacterial infection in the ascitic fluid of the abdomen (Spontaneous Bacterial Peritonitis - SBP), which led to a significant decline in his level of consciousness.

Upon the arrival of the Thera Home team therahomeHis level of consciousness was 9 out of 15 Upon the arrival of the Thera Home team, his Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score indicated a significant decline in his level of consciousness. Therefore, an integrated intensive home care program was initiated immediately.

The treatment plan included 24-hour medical and nursing monitoring, comprehensive medical therapy for liver cirrhosis and its complications, appropriate antibiotics to treat the ascitic fluid infection, along with specific treatments for hepatic encephalopathy, including enemas and supportive therapy. It also involved close monitoring of vital signs and daily assessment of his response to treatment.

With continuous care, gradual improvement began to appear, and within just five days, his level of consciousness improved to 15 out of 15 on the Glasgow Coma Scale. 15 out of 15 His Glasgow Coma Scale score improved, and Uncle Hosny regained full consciousness and the ability to communicate with his family.

Follow-up care continued until his condition stabilized, with regular home-based ascites drainage sessions provided, helping him avoid repeated hospital admissions and allowing him to continue his treatment safely and comfortably surrounded by his family.
